He did not start out in electronic music but in metal: a hardcore metalhead, he was already composing in the 2000s, note by note in GuitarPro. His founding influences are Alexi Laiho, of Children of Bodom, and Michael Romeo, of Symphony X. Finnish melodic death metal stayed his DNA — twin harmonised leads, icy minor-key melodies, melancholy under the aggression — and he carried it into dubstep rather than leaving it behind.
